Adolescent Ratings of Therapeutic Alliance during Telemental Health

A Study About Teens Using Telehealth

Researchers at the University of Arizona want to learn more about teens’ experiences using telehealth for mental health care. This Research Study is Voluntary.

Study may be a Good Fit for you (or your child) if:

  • You are between the ages of 14 and 18 years, 11 months
  • You are being treated for depression and/or anxiety
  • You are seeing a provider (therapist, nurse practitioner, etc.) for outpatient mental health care using video calls
  • You have never met your provider in person
  • You just started your treatment with this provider and have met less than 10 times

If you decide to volunteer for this study, you (or your child) will:

  • Continue your mental health care as usual with your provider
  • Complete a total of 6 surveys, which will take up to 2 hours to complete
  • This study is NOT testing any drugs or treatments and will not be used to diagnose any condition
  • There is NO cost to you, except for your time. You will be reimbursed up to $25 for your time and participation if you complete all 6 surveys.
    • You must reside in the U.S., as confirmed by your IP address. The survey will have built-in comprehension tests, and if you fail any, you will not be reimbursed for your time.
  • If you are under 18, you will need your parents’ permission to take part. Please provide their contact information so we can confirm their permission before completing surveys.

Where will the study take place?

  • You can complete all surveys, confidentially, online
  • You will complete a survey to screen for eligibility. If eligible, you will need to meet with the researcher during a live Zoom session to sign consent paperwork. Then you will have access to complete the remaining surveys. Only after this whole process is complete will you be eligible for the reimbursement.

The researcher conducting this study is Alison Ercole, PhDc, MSN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, The University of Arizona, College of Nursing, 1305 N Martin Ave, Tucson, AZ 85721. To protect your privacy, please do not include sensitive information via email (just your name, but not date of birth, etc.)
