Induction Ceremony at ISPN Annual Conference in Asheville, North Carolina 

Eligibility:

To apply to become a FISPN member, an applicant must:

Applicants for a Fellow in ISPN must provide evidence of how their contributions are congruent with the mission and strategic goals of ISPN. Applicants for FISPN must be a current member of ISPN. An advanced practice degree or doctoral degree is not required, although recommended. Applicants for FISPN must provide evidence of their enduring and substantial contributions to psychiatric-mental health nursing and ISPN in at least two of the following areas:

  • Education: teaching/learning innovation/faculty development and/or collaborative partnership in psychiatric-mental health nursing
  • Research: primary or translational research and theory promotion impacting/translating psychiatric-mental health nursing
  • Leadership: administration, public policy/advocacy, health equity, and social justice at a local, state, or national level in psychiatric-mental health nursing
  • Clinical practice: in direct care (including telehealth; integrative/collaborative), or public service that demonstrates positive impact on psychiatric-mental health nursing practice and health outcomes

Applicants for FISPN must also provide evidence of how they will continue to provide visionary leadership in psychiatric-mental health nursing and the FISPN Committee to maintain good standing.

  • Fellows in good standing have the following rights:
    • To be designated as a Fellow in ISPN (FISPN)
    • To use the FISPN following their names after attending the induction ceremony
    • To receive notice of and attend the annual business meeting and special meetings
    • To vote at annual business meetings and special business meetings
    • To nominate and vote for candidates for elected office within the FISPN committee
    • Serve in leadership roles within the FISPN committee, (roles include Chair and Chair elect)
    • To sponsor no more than 2 candidates for FISPN per year.
  • Fellows in good standing have the following responsibilities:
    • Maintain active membership and participation in ISPN, working to advance the vision and mission.
    • Pay annual ISPN and FISPN dues and regularly attend FISPN committee meetings
    • Maintain a commitment to ethical conduct in accordance with ISPN values
    • Support the ISPN Foundation vision and mission (Strongly encouraged, but not required)
