Purpose and Charges for ISPN Committees:

  • Awards Committee

    • Solicit, review, select and notify award recipients
    • Present awards at Annual Meeting
    • Review and confer poster awards

  • Communications & Marketing Committee

    • Oversee and coordinate the overall communications vehicles for ISPN; Website, Connections Newsletter, Archives of Psychiatric Nursing Journal, Social Media (Facebook and Twitter), ISPN Listserv, Eblasts. 
    • Recommend policy to Board of Directors on all matters related to development (such as annual giving, corporate solicitations, donations and sponsorships)
    • Develop a communication strategy that will increase member donations to support ISPN programs and activities
    • Provide links to other useful and relevant websites
    • Review information on website to maintain accuracy and provide members with up to date information
    • Pursue and develop relevant content for website

  • Conference Committee

    • In collaboration with the association management company:
      • Identify conference theme and select keynote and plenary speakers to address issues associated with theme of conference
      • Plan a call for abstracts 
      • Review abstracts submitted for presentations
      • Prepare, review, and refine program brochure
      • Review and monitor conference budget
      • Provide verbal and written reports as requests to Board of Directors

  • Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee

    • Advocate for access to and attainment of high quality, equitable mental health services for diverse individuals, families, and groups
    • Advocate for and engage in mental health care research aimed at eliminating health and mental health disparities 
    • Participate in policy initiatives that support equitable and available mental health treatment. 
    • Advise ISPN Board of Directors on equity issues
    • Collaborate with the Conference Committee Chair to ensure inclusion of diversity and equity representation in conference program efforts

  • Finance Committee

    • Prepare and present annual budget
    • Communicate financial status of ISPN to Board of Directors
    • Prepare and present annual report to the membership

  • Membership Committee

    • Develop and implement focused recruitment strategies
    • Identify barriers and focused issues related to retention of members
    • Develop and coordinate member activities at the annual conference: New Member Breakfast, International Member Get Together
    • Develop and implement proposals and strategies for mentoring and leadership development

  • Nominating Committee

    • Coordinate all ISPN elections
    • Collaborate with ISPN association management staff to setup e-voting process to complete the voting process
    • Notify newly elected candidates and announce outcome at the ISPN annual business meeting

  • Policy Committee

    • Explore and track current issues of health and mental health policy relevant to Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Practice, Education and Research.
    • Recommend policy actions to ISPN Board of Directors.
    • Generate knowledge about policy; collaborate on projects; exchange ideas; disseminate information through ISPN communication means; and advocate for issues of relevance to Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
    • Collaborate with national policy groups and key stakeholders.
    • Develop a mentoring program for those who are new to policy or who are interested in developing a role in policy.
    • Follow activities and actions of The Nursing Community, Mental Health Liaison Group, federal/state advocacy events and determine strategies for policy issues relevant to persons with mental health needs.
    • Explore opportunities for collaboration with health and mental health stakeholder groups.
