ISPN co-sponsored the 25th International MHNR Conference 2019, “From Global to Local: Mental Health in a Connected World” on September 12-13, 2019, at the Royal College of Nursing Headquarters, 20 Cavendish Square in London, England

This premier international conference explored developments in mental health nursing research, education and practice. It highlighted nurse-led initiatives influencing the global mental health agenda and improving quality of life for people living with mental health difficulties. The conference was held in the historic Royal College of Nursing. Many of us took advantage of being in London to visit the Florence Nightingale Museum in St. Thomas Hospital which overlooks the River Thames.

ISPN members enjoyed meeting mental health nurses from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, India, Malawi and Wales among other countries.

ISPN members presented papers and posters at the conference highlighted by Edilma Yearwood’s insightful keynote address on Mental Health Literacy & Stigma Reduction in Low & Middle Income Countries.

Other ISPN and US presenters were Cynthia Handrup on Global Mental Health, Sally Raphel on Child & Adolescent Mental Health, Pam Lusk on Training in CBT for Child & Adolescent, Susan Goldstein on Promoting Mental Wellness, Julie Bertram & Allison Brauch on Trauma Responsiveness, Victoria Soltis-Jarrett on Nurse Practitioner-Led Healthcare, Vicki Hines-Martin on Enhancing Workforce Creativity, Rene Love and Jane Carrington on Telehealth, Michelle Kahn-John and Cristina Rivera Carpenter on Navajo Healing Ceremony and Eileen O’Connell on Preventing Presenteeism.
