Summary: Opioid use disorder is a significant public health problem. Buprenorphine is one treatment strategy that reduces morbidity and mortality related to opioid use disorder. Psychiatric-mental health nurses and advanced practice nurses should be familiar with best practices related to buprenorphine induction and maintenance treatment.
