COVID-19 (coronavirus)

Updated: March 20, 2020

After Board deliberations and feedback from the San Antonio venue, we regret to inform our membership that a decision has been made to cancel the ISPN 2020 Annual Conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its resulting restrictions. We greatly regret the loss of an exciting opportunity to exchange ideas in person but look forward to online delivery of some of this year’s information and to the 2021 conference. Please see the message below from Visit San Antonio:

San Antonio is looking forward to hosting the 2020 International Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses Conference this month. Your attendees will enjoy one of the country’s truly warm, authentic destinations. We treat our visitors like family, ensuring their comfort and safety as a priority.

This is especially true as our city hosted a few American evacuees that tested positive for the coronavirus and were being treated at a quarantined location far from our downtown area. None of the evacuees came in contact with the general public. The evacuees did not arrive at San Antonio International Airport and there are no cases of coronavirus apart from those individuals.

We feel very comfortable that visitors, including your attendees, are safe and protected. Visit San Antonio will continue to stay on top of any happenings regarding the coronavirus and will offer further updates as warranted.

ISPN is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of attendees in light of concerns about COVID-19.  The Annual Meeting in San Antonio will take place as planned.

The risk of getting COVID-19 in the U.S. is currently low.  The CDC currently recommends that individuals follow everyday preventative actions that include hand washing, covering your cough, and staying home if you are ill.

Stay informed and take common-sense precautions (see below). View this interview from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
